Lozells, Villa and Soho Roads
The area is known across the city as a centre of multi-cultural activity, with a vibrant and cosmopolitan feel. Pavements bustling with busy shoppers and residents mean the area never feels dull. The shopping area is at the heart of the local community supplying all its needs but also has many visitors from across Birmingham and the West Midlands, who come for the variety and atmosphere it offers.
Each of the three roads has its own character which combines to create a centre that offers a unique experience that has something to offer everyone.
Shopping
Bright food stores bursting with fresh fruit and vegetables supply cuisine from all around the world. Ethnic fashions with beautiful outfits made from luxurious materials of every colour under the sun, are complimented by the sparkle and glitter of gold, silver and gems from the jewellers windows. However, the area has so much else to offer with a huge variety of shops and services from DIY shops to travel agents, to sewing machine repairs and so many, many more.
The area has nearly 300 stores, the majority of which are independent retailers providing a wealth of choice and a shopping experience that will not be found anywhere else.
Sports & leisure
For those wanting to mix shopping with more active recreation, Handsworth Leisure Centre and Swimming Pool situated within Handsworth Park is positioned within easy walking distance. In addition to these facilities, Handsworth Library is situated in the heart of the centre on Soho Road and the historic Soho House is positioned nearby, where Matthew Boulton a leading industrialist met with scientists and inventors in the 19th century and helped develop Birmingham into one of the most important cities in the country.
