Whether it’s Aston Villa or Birmingham City playing host, there’s
nearly always a top class game in town at the weekend. With both teams
close to the city centre, it’s easy to mix the match with other
attractions. Plus with three other local league teams, there’s real
football choice.
Aston Villa
After a 9th place finish in the Barclays Premier League in 2010-11, Aston Villa are looking to build on promising end to the 2010/11season (they only lost 1 game in final two months beating Arsenal and Liverpool in their final two games). It was a good breakthrough season for many products of Villa’s successful youth team – Marc Albrighton, Ciaran Clark, Barry Bannan.
Villa could be on to win a cup in 2011/12 (FA Cup / League Cup) having come close in recent years.
Villa also set a fine example off the field too, with many of the suites and lounges benefiting from a multi-million refurbishment. The extensive changes to the facilities across the ground have laid down the blueprint for a new and innovative way of doing hospitality and events – with the Trinity Road Stand and the Holte Suite prime examples of the club’s state-of-the-art facilities. Villa Park’s vast range of suites also makes the terrific stadium the ideal venue for that special function or business event.
Meanwhile the clubs classy Holte pub enables loyal supporters to enjoy the pre and post-match atmosphere at each home clash, while visitors to the city can also enjoy a stadium tour - a breathtaking opportunity to see the changing rooms and even sit on the manager’s bench.
