The 28th Birmingham International Jazz & Blues Festival
6 - 15 July
With more than 160 performances in 50 venues across the city during ten music-packed July days, Birmingham is again set to be the Jazz and Blues focus of Europe.
Musicians and fans come to the city from every corner of the UK as well as from further afield and significantly, almost all of the events are free to the public.
It seems as if music is coming from around every corner, with performances taking place in shopping centres, city squares and streets, stately homes, art galleries, pubs, hotels, museums, bars, markets, restaurants, gardens, arcades, cafes, bandstands, music stores, canal boats and tourist destinations.

Alongside the live shows will be choir, dance and photography workshops which are open to all, as well as jam sessions, a jazz quiz, jazz films and instrument workshops. All styles and all eras of jazz, blues, swing and related music have their place in the festival, with fun, accessibility to all and fine musicianship the keynotes.
With the increased costs of overseas travel persuading many to holiday at home, the additional incoming tourism generated by the Olympics and the attractiveness of Birmingham as a tourist destination, it is expected to top the 2011 attendance figure of 96,000.
