Moseley Folk Festival
3 - 5 September, Moseley Park
This year will be the 5th festival in Moseley Park. With a healthy mix of traditional, contemporary and downright experimental folk and acoustic music.
This year's headliner is the mighty Donovan. Other acts include Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, The Low Anthem, Johnny Flynn, The High Llamas, Spider John Koerner, Alasdair Roberts and Lisa Knapp, The Unthanks, John Renbourn, Martin Simpson, The Destroyers, Urban Folk Quartet and Bella Hardy.

The British Science Festival
14 - 19 September 2010, various venues
One
of Europe's largest science festivals, taking place each September,
the six-day event attracts visitors of all ages, with an ever-expanding
array of lectures, debates and science-related demonstrations, as well
as a dedicated young persons’ programme, which will run at Thinktank.

Birmingham Book Festival
5 - 21 October 2010
Each
year in October the Festival welcomes novelists, speakers, poets,
journalists, storytellers, dramatists and others from around the UK to
participate in a rich and diverse programme of events, workshops,
seminars, debates and discussions on a myriad of subjects that have
included Politics, Fairtrade, Genetics, Digitalisation of the arts, the
writing industries and craft, Religion, Liberty, Clouds, Denial, and
The Smiths.
The Festival also runs year round events: book
launches, workshops, writer networking events and this year’s Spring
Thing: A Festival In A Day on May 29 featuring the National Poet
Laureate Carol Ann Duffy and many other inspirational writers.
